The Archbishop and the Rabbi
Ifotophilia brings you the photographs of the Archbishop of Canterbury’s visit to Norwich that the local papers did not show.
Wednesday 7th November saw the visit of the Archbishop of Canterbury to the city of Norwich. The local papers covered the Archbishop’s visit to both the Roman Catholic Cathedral and the Anglican Cathedral. What they didn’t cover was the visit to the United Hebrew Congregation Synagogue in Earlham Road
It was a great privilege to be asked to take photographs there for the community.
The Archbishop’s visit which included prayers for peace and reconciliation came virtually on the 80th anniversary of Kristallnacht in Germany and only a week or so after the dreadful killings at the Squirrel Hill synagogue in Pittsburgh.
Appropriately a Kaddish was recited and after speeches and an offering of a gift to the Archbishop, the gathering was concluded with wine and bread.
