Photograph of the week – A staircase!
You went all the way to London to take a photograph of a staircase? Just goes to show they haven’t all been locked up yet!
Well not exactly. It was my annual jolly to the Societies of Photographers Convention at the Hilton London Metropole – or at least their trade show. The hotel is an experience in itself. Make one wrong turning and you might have to phone reception to find the way out. It is very extensive and some of the lines in the internal décor are quite thought provoking from a pictorial point of view.
The trade show? Yes that was quite good. The free demonstrations were interesting. It was good to watch Glyn Dewis in action – quite an animated performance, although I think his model had sat through it several times before.
There were the usual distractions and temptations, pretty girls, Hasselblads, and G&Ts in the hotel bar, but I managed to avoid most of them. I can’t speak for my fellow traveller. I suspect he and his bank manager might have had a tense meeting last Monday. There is no doubt that Trade Fairs like this one offer some terrific reductions.
Ah well it’s back to scanning the photo magazines.
