Who would have thought it?
When you are looking for somewhere spectacular to photograph, the Lancashire town of Preston doesn’t immediately spring to mind. On Thursday I visited this part of Lancashire and was surprised to find some amazing photographic opportunities in the Harris Museum.
The Harris family were notable Victorian philanthropists and they spent a lot of time and a lot of money ensuring that their home town of Preston was endowed with some rather spectacular buildings and some spectacular opportunities, which were directed to improve the lot of the poor.
Sadly many of these buildings have now gone, but the efforts of the family are not forgotten and this museum is a fitting tribute to their generosity.
