Cribs and Christmas (This week’s pictures)
It makes a change from Christmas trees, robins, snow and immortal choir boys singing everlasting choruses. Last weekend a local church had a Christmas Crib Festival. So we took along some belonging to our family. I feel it always comes as something of a shock when people are reminded that Jesus was not British – or even European for that matter – although you would hardly think it looking at Christmas cards.
What interested me more was the way in which each culture has this wonderful habit of portraying the Christ child in its own image.
The photographs I took are of figures from the nativity scenes from Vietnam, North America,
Spain (Santiago de Compostela) and Zambia.
Hope your preparations for the festival go well.
